After completing his military service in 1977 in South Africa, Allen remained active in the SANDF part time forces retiring after 30 years of active service as the Officer Commanding of Regiment Port Natal; a Mechanised Infantry Battalion with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Allen Joined the Mc Carthy Group as a trainee manager in 1979, and spent fourteen years with the group as one of their Dealer Principals before venturing out and starting his own Motor Dealership.

In 1993 Allen purchased an interest in a Volkswagen franchise Weiss Motors, and grew the business into a small motor group of Volkswagen and Honda franchise dealerships as well as several vehicle tracking sales and fitment Centres. In 2005 Allen sold the Motor Group to relocate to Melbourne, Australia. Allen has a passion for telematics and he has been involved in the sales and marketing of telematics products since its inception in the market which resulted in him joining Jeremy Davidson as a shareholder and director at Bandit Vehicle Tracking until it was acquired by the Bidvest Group in 2009.

Allen is also one of the founders of the Webhouse Group which has grown into an international group of companies, offering a wide range of services within a number of different industries; web development, online software solutions, telecom expense management, asset tracking and vehicle fleet management. Allen has a passion for innovation and online products.
